Broken Sennheiser HD-25 Headphone Driver

Last night I accidentally destroyed my headphones by sending a nasty huge transient (several, in fact) through the left driver. It displaced the voice coil and bent it out of shape. The diaphram is very delicately constructed, and there was no possibility for repair, so I opened it up for all to see. I only hope that if you’re watching this, you didn’t do the same.

Dish Network Provides the TV of the Future in the Present

As with any flashy new technology, there’s a lot of hype (and a lot of corresponding misinformation) surrounding high definition television. High definition television, which is also called HDTV, HD, or High Def for short, is a similar to the older standard definition television format that’s been around since the middle of the twentieth century, but has many features that have been taken a step further. For example, while standard definition television has a picture that appears on a screen the high definition picture is about thirty percent wider and has a resolution that’s much higher than the standard definition resolution. Both of these picture features offer substantially more detail. Sound is similarly improved. Standard definition television has sound, but high definition television has Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound as its audio standard. Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound is designed to immerse the audience in the scene by supporting two speakers behind the audience, a sub woofer to send low frequency vibrations through the floor and three speakers in front of the audience. All of these visual and audible differences provide a much richer and more detailed television experience when watching high definition television than the old fashioned standard definition television format ever could.

All of these differences between standard definition and HDTV means that you need special high definition television programming to really get the most out of a properly installed and calibrated high definition home entertainment center. You also need a special high definition television receiver in order to enjoy that programming. Dish Network can take a lot of the guess work out of getting a new high definition home entertainment system set up and ready to go by providing the largest selection of high definition television channels available anywhere along with the added benefit of a high definition television satellite receiver that will fit your needs nicely.

Dish Network’s high definition television programming encompasses a lot of different subject matters. For example, you can educational, cultural, science, and nature programming from both Equator HD and Discovery HD Theater. If you like video games, GamePlay HD will give you everything you need to know about video gaming with emphasis on the increasing trend to have video gaming systems take advantage of the wide screen and high resolution picture of high definition television technology. You can also keep up with the antique world with Treasure HD, the world of high fashion with Ultra HD, and the world of visual arts with Gallery HD. Home and Garden HD will give you a much broader way of looking at home improvements, and Rave HD will provide you with concerts by all of your favorite artists.

There are also channels specifically geared towards different members of the family. Animania HD provides new and remastered versions of older cartoons. Guy TV HD provides lots of movies in genres of special interest to men including war movies, westerns, and more.

Sports and movies are always popular choices for HDTV programming and you can get the best of both through a variety of channels with Dish Network. News is even available in HDTV through HD News. Dish Network provides the ultimate high def programming experience and can give it to you right now.

Home Entertainment And Consumer Electronics

Home theater systems are now extremely popular items within the average family home and quite literally, everyone is getting into the benefits that consumer electronics and home entertainment can provide. Thanks to some great advances in home entertainment oriented sound and video technology, it is now very easy to purchase and install a home theater system in your own home. DVD movies, high definition television and a fully surround sound stereo and audio system are all now what is considered the standard consumer electronics items for any home owner who loves to enjoy music, television cable or simply entertaining on the weekends.

Researching the options for a home theater system is best done online. There are a myriad of home entertainment options available. All you need do is conduct a search for the term “home theater system” and then visit the various online shopping malls that come up in the search. By researching such products through a shopping mall you can find out detailed specifications about the products and sometimes snag better than retail prices.

But what to get? Home theater systems essentially consist of three main components: audio, video and projection. Some people prefer to just go out and buy all three at once in some sort of package deal - this can often work out cheaper. But often people don’t have the expendable income to do this so many brands are designed to allow you concentrate on purchasing one aspect (or module) of your home theater system at a time, until you have exactly what you want.

Audio is just as important as the video because if you don’t have a good quality audio system it will ruin your whole home theater and home entertainment setup. You can also purchase home theater systems in a box which will usually consist of all the parts that you need for home entertainment. These kinds of systems are great for those who want to setup their home theater systems in one or two steps, but if you put some time and effort into it you can save money on your system and get better quality all around at the same time. If you don’t know what you are doing, then look around at some consumer electronics suppliers will install for you for a fee.

Home theater systems can be purchased by many online consumer electronic suppliers from the Internet. Do your homework and you will soon see that there are a large number of consumer electronic suppliers who will be only to willing to ship you out a great deal today on a new home theater system. Take your time though, because if you come across the right consumer electronic supplier then they will offer you free shipping and insurance and even 48-hour delivery on some home theater systems. Some consumer electronic suppliers will even offer free installation on a new home theater system and if you are a novice then why not take them up on their offer.

The Advantages of Professional Audio/video Equipment

The term “professional” means something different to just about everybody and everything. A “professional athlete” is classified as someone who plays a sport and is paid for it as opposed to those who play for recreation. A “sales professional” is someone employed in the business of selling and is seemingly at the top of their game. A doctor is considered to be a “professional”, and so is a lawyer. Professional audio/video equipment is considered to be of a higher quality than traditional consumer grades, even though the term “higher quality” is never mentioned. The biggest myth regarding professional audio/video equipment is that it’s not affordable to the average shopper. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

If you’re into recording audio, professional audio equipment will alleviate the annoying “hiss” that’s sure to come through and make any tape or disc next to useless for any public play. When watching a personally recorded video, you’ll notice a dramatic difference in both picture quality and clarity. And the price difference between the consumer and professional grades is not even close to what you’re thinking. In fact, you’re sure to be pleasantly surprised.

The majority of professional audio/video equipment can be easily transported, whereas consumer grade mobility might be a bit more difficult. Speakers and other large, heavy items will either have handles on the sides or will have lock-box cases with heavy-duty handles to make the carrying process a whole lot easier. Professional grade speakers aren’t just easier to move around, but they’re more durable and have a great reputation for lasting for quite a while (otherwise, the manufacturer wouldn’t have their brand name plastered across the front for everyone to see.) Manufacturer warranties usually cover more aspects of the equipment and/or for a longer period of time. Extended warranties are also available, typically for longer periods of time with professional audio/video equipment.

Don’t forget about the details that make the professionals of the audio/video trade stand out amongst the amateurs, like mirror balls and bubble machines. Strobe lights are also regaining the “spotlight” for traveling disc jockeys and other members of the business, as well as many other effects reminiscent of the “days of disco”. Even if you aren’t a pro, you can create the feeling that you are by crafting an area of your home to display your gear.

When you’re purchasing your pro audio/video equipmentt, be sure to not skimp on the small stuff, like the cables and power cords, as they do make a huge difference.

What are the most inexpensive, best noise-cancelling headphones that will work with my iPod nano?

I'm going to be on a very long flight with a one year old, my son, and I thought that the noise-cancelling headphones with some relaxing music would help him since that music helps him sleep at home, but I can't use the ear buds in his ears because they are small!

Well best for sure is Bose. But they are the most expensive. They were originally made for that exact purpose. They are even given out to first class customers to play with the DVD players. They are very expensive, but the best and top of the line.

If you were to provide a price range, I could probably be able to help you with something more affordable

What are the best home surround sound systems out there?

What are the best home surround systems out there, for a cinema-like experience?

Thats more a question of what your budget is, and what kinds of inputs you are going to use. For a system with a very large TV, such as 60 inches or more, and/or with a BluRay disc player, you will likely want to have a more powerful and versatile system than with a smaller TV and/or a regular DVD player.

You can start in HT systems for about $500. There are some great 5.1 receivers and speaker systems available on amazon.com that would total a buyer at that price. For more money, you can get a more powerful receiver, with more inputs and outputs, move up to at least 7.1 and get much bigger and more powerful speakers. Its also quite possible to go so far upscale that each pair of speakers have their own dedicated power amplifier, and at that point, you're into the multi thousands of $$$.

Its all a matter of balance; theres no point in having a $10,000 audio system with a 26 inch tube TV and a basic DVD player, and theres no point in connecting a BluRay player and a 60 inch LCD to a $200 all in one box system.
